Down to Earth
UFOs open up the possibility of a science of otherness, where the big Other has - thanks be to philosophy for this - really been stuck in the realm of the theoretical and elusively transcendent. The alien brings the Other down to earth. It brings our highest instincts into the realm of the ordinary.
